We’re Hiring: Live-In Domestic Couple (Long-Term Role)

Start Date: End of March 2026

Location: nr Newbury, Berkshire

A warm and welcoming private household (2 adults) is seeking an experienced live-in couple for a long-term role, with regular trips to France 🇫🇷

The current couple have been with the family for 4 years and are happy to chat with incoming couple.

A wonderful opportunity for a proactive couple who enjoy working together and take pride in running a home smoothly.

Salary: £65,000+ gross per couple (DOE) — negotiable

The Role

• Housekeeping & laundry
• Cooking – daily family cooking plus occasional private parties
• Shopping & errands
• Managing fires & logs
• Car care
• Light lawn & grounds support alongside the full-time gardener (e.g. leaves, logs, general upkeep)
• Driving assistance
• General day-to-day household support
• Caring for one friendly dog

• 🇫🇷 France Travel (3–4 times per year)
• You must be happy to travel with the family to France several times annually.
• You’ll have your own small adjacent cottage while in France, with days off there too.

Hours & Flexibility

• Core hours: 09:00–16:00 + 1 additional hour in the evening (typically 3–4 evenings per week) for shutters, supper prep, driving support, or small overruns. Not required on Sundays.

Days off: Tuesday & Wednesday

Accommodation & Benefits

• Separate 2-bedroom cottage provided (all bills + internet included)
• Use of a car
• 4 weeks’ holiday per year, taken in two 2-week blocks:
  • 2 weeks in February (while the family is away for 5 weeks)
  • 2 weeks in summer

• Experienced domestic couple (checkable references)
• Discreet, friendly, and reliable
• Driver’s license – ideally both drivers
• Right to work in the UK (we do not offer sponsorship)
